The Planika Forma 1000 Island Fireplace Insert with FLA4 790 is a four-sided open island bioethanol firebox. The non-combustible steel housing surrounds the FLA4 790 BEV burner with tempered glass on every visible side, ready to drop into a freestanding feature wall or central island feature. No flue, no chimney, no construction work, just a 230 V plug.

BEV (Bio Ethanol Ventless) is Planika’s patented automatic burner technology. Bioethanol is heated inside a sealed chamber and turned into flammable vapours, so it is the vapour that burns, never the liquid fuel itself. A microprocessor regulates combustion and a suite of safety sensors (temperature, fuel level, seismic, spillage) monitor the burn at all times.

Combustion is clean with no smoke, soot or ash, so the fireplace produces real flame and warmth without flue or chimney requirements.

What does this kit include?

The kit includes the Forma 1000 Island firebox housing with the FLA4 790 BEV burner, tempered glass screens for all four visible sides, automatic refuelling pump, remote control, power cable and mounting hardware.

Do I need a flue or chimney?

No. The Forma 1000 Island uses BEV ventless technology and only needs a 230 V plug socket.

How long does one fill of fuel last?

The FLA4 790 delivers up to 8 hours of burn time on the lower flame setting; less on higher settings. Refilling is automatic via the integrated pump.

Can I install it as a central feature?

Yes, the four-sided island configuration is designed for centre-of-room installation in a feature wall, divider or freestanding plinth. The housing is non-combustible, so framing materials can be timber or plasterboard.

What fuel does it use?

Use high-grade bioethanol fuel (95–96.6% concentration). We recommend Calida Premium Bioethanol Fuel for warranty and clean burn.

Is professional installation required?

Recommended. The Forma 1000 Island is designed for installation by a competent installer or experienced trade. Bentley Bioethanol Fires UK can supply only or arrange an assisted installation.
